Jonas Westergaard (* 6. August 1976 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish jazz - double bass player .

Live and act

Westergaard, who is from Copenhagen , studied at the Rytmisk Music Conservatory . Since the 1990s he has worked in the Danish and German jazz and improvisation scene a. a. with Christopher Dell , Benjamin Koppel , Christian Lillinger , Henrik Walsdorff , Marc Schmolling , in the Trio Spoom (with Ronny Graupe and Christian Lillinger), also with Michael Wollny and the formations Delirium (among others with Mikko Innanen ) and Field (with Oliver Steidle , Ronny Graupe and Uli Kempendorff ). In the field of jazz, Westergaard was involved in 33 recording sessions between 1997 and 2012, apart from the aforementioned also with Jakob Bro , George Garzone , Søren Kjærgaard , Jesper Løvdal , Hans Ulrik , Petter Wettre and Jesper Zeuthen . After receiving a special prize from Danmarks Radio in 2006 , he recorded the album Helgoland (2008) with a nonet with his own compositions.
