Benjamin Koppel (* 21st February 1974 ) is a Danish jazz - saxophonist , bandleader, composer and music producer .

biography

Benjamin Koppel began to be interested in jazz as a teenager and released his debut album at the age of eighteen. Since then he has been active as a band leader and accompanying musician, with musicians such as Chano Domínguez , Alex Riel , Daniel Humair , Palle Danielsson , Charlie Mariano , Phil Woods , Larry Goldings , Bill Stewart and Paul Bley . In 2001 he founded his own label, Cowbell . His current projects include the Mad Cows Sing ensemble , his own jazz quintet, the Koppel-Andersen-Koppel trio , the Nordic Design project and the collaboration with the singers Alberte Winding and Marie Carmen Koppel. In the field of classical music, he has also worked with wind ensembles, big bands and symphony orchestras . In 2007 he was awarded the Django d'Or as the Contemporary Star of Jazz .
