Søren Kjærgaard (born March 5, 1978 in Lemvig , Jutland ) is a Danish jazz musician ( piano , keyboard , arrangement ) and composer .

Søren Kjærgaard grew up in his hometown Lemwig. After his early musical education, he received piano lessons from the age of seven. In 1997 he moved to Copenhagen to study at the Rytmisk Conservatory of Music . In 2000 he and his Trio Fuchsia won the Nordic Young Jazz Competition . From 2001 to 2002 he lived in New York City for a year , where he played with jazz musicians such as Michael Blake (in his band Blake Tartare ), Tim Berne , Herb Robertson , Jim Black and Steven Bernstein , before studying in Copenhagen in the summer of 2002 completed.

On his return he was artistic director and arranger of the formation Ultraktement , the band of the Copenhagen Music Conservatory, on whose album Andersens Drømme he participated. He also worked with Danish rock musicians such as Nikolaj Nørlund and Jens Unmack . In 2004 he made his debut album Bandapart with a band made up of Jonas Westergaard (bass), Jeppe Gram (drums) and Jakob Bro (guitar) . In the same year he was awarded the Danish National Radio's Jazz Prize. After his first trio album Amfebia (2005), the solo album Keys was released the following year .

In 2010 he gave concerts with his band at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2011, he presented the album Femklang (Ilk Music) with his American trio of Ben Street (bass) and Andrew Cyrille (drums) ,
