Jesper Zeuthen

Jesper Zeuthen (* 1949 ) is a Danish jazz musician ( alto and tenor saxophone , arrangement , composition ).

Since 1969 Zeuthen played in the jazz rock group Blue Sun , which was very successful in Denmark, played the relevant festivals and released several albums. Then he played in Bo Jacobsen's Nada , which was also based on African-influenced fusion music, in the Ole Nordenhov Kvartet and in the Agurk quartet . From 1981 he was a member of Pierre Dørges New Jungle Orchestra for almost twenty years and then played with Anderskov Accident . He has also worked with Don Cherry & Terry Riley (1970), Johnny Dyanis Witchdoctors Sun , Paul Motian , Bill Frisell , Marilyn Mazur and Ben Street . In addition, he led his own groups such as the Det Flyvende Hus quintet and Prima Ballerina . In 2003 he received a three-year grant from the State Art Fund in Denmark. In 2010 he and his trio released their first album under their own name, which was the best Danish jazz album of the year for JazzSpecial Denmark and was classified by AllAboutJazz among the five best albums of 2010.
