Adrián Chávez (born June 27, 1962 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of goalkeeper . After his active career, Chavez worked, among other things, in the coaching staff of Antonio Carlos Santos, who looked after the Tecos de la UAG farm team playing in the second division in the 2008/09 season.

Adrián Chávez Ortiz began his professional career in the 1981/82 season with his hometown club Atlético Español , which at the end of the season after eleven years has given up this name, which has also put off the last old fans, and again taken on its original name Necaxa. After four years at Atlético Español and Necaxa, Chavez left the club and completed a short-term stint at Club León in the 1985/86 season . He then returned to his hometown and was under contract with Club América for the next ten years . With this club he was Mexican champion and Supercup winner twice (1988 and 1989), won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup three times (1987, 1990 and 1992) and once (1991) the Copa Interamericana .

After he left America in 1996 at the age of 36, he changed clubs annually. In the 1996/97 season still goalkeeper at Atlético Celaya , he was in the 1997/98 and 1999/2000 seasons (his last season) a frequent reservist at his former club León and at the second division club Cruz Azul Hidalgo , with whom he was under contract in 1998/99 was standing.

National team

Chavez made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on March 29, 1988 in an 8-0 win over El Salvador. He played his last international game on January 26, 1994, when Mexico lost 5-1 to Switzerland.

The highlight of his national team career was participation in the soccer world championship in 1994 , in which he was not used.
