Ulrich "Uli" Kempendorff (* 1981 in Berlin ) is a German jazz musician ( saxophone , clarinet , flute ).

Live and act

Kempendorff studied from 2000 to 2004 at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin and as a DAAD scholarship holder 2006/2007 at the City College of New York . His teachers included Tony Malaby , Gebhard Ullmann , Rich Perry , John Patitucci and George Garzone . From 2002 to 2004 he was a member of the Bujazzo concert line-up under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer and John Ruocco . In 2007 Kempendorff was a prize winner at the Concours International in Friborg . Concerts and festivals have taken him to Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, France, the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Poland, Italy, Mexico and the USA.

Kempendorff directs and composes for his own quartet Field with Ronny Graupe , Jonas Westergaard and Oliver Steidle . He also works regularly in bands with and by Ulrich Gumpert , Benjamin Weidekamp , Reinhold Schmölzer , Hannes Zerbe , Tobias Delius , Henrik Walsdorff , Christian Weidner , Johannes Lauer , Christian Lillinger , Gebhard Ullmann , Sebastian Merk , Lucia Cadotsch , Michael Griener , Ignaz Schick and Stefan Schultze .

In 2010, Kempendorff initiated the Serious Series concert series in the Kreuzberg Senate Reservoir. Together with Stefan Schultze and Jan Schreiner, he is the founder of the Berlin Art Orchester . Since 2004 Kempendorff has been teaching at the music school of the Barnim district.
