Jan Schreiner
Jan Schreiner (* 1984 in Stuttgart ) is a German jazz musician ( bass trombone , tuba ) and composer .
Live and act
Schreiner grew up in Alfdorf near Schwäbisch Gmünd . At the age of six, he learned to play the trumpet at the local music club before switching to the trombone as a teenager. He had lessons with Vichan Molerov and played in regional big bands such as the PH Big Band Schwäbisch Gmünd, the Young Jazz and Rock Honoration Aalen and the Lumberjack Big Band Göppingen . In Stuttgart he had lessons with Uli Röser; After completing his community service, he began his music studies in Mannheim with Günter Bollmann in 2004 , which he continued in Lucerne in 2006 (lessons with Nils Wogram ). During this time he switched to the bass trombone and tuba. In 2004 he was a member of the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Bernd Konrad ; from 2005 to 2008 he was a member of the federal jazz orchestra .
Together with David Grottschreiber and Matthias Tschopp , Schreiner founded the Lucerne Jazz Orchestra in 2007 , with which he has created several albums. After graduating as a music teacher (2008) and in performance (2009), he first moved to Berlin, then to Cologne. In 2009 he founded the Vertigo Trombone Quartet with Andreas Tschopp , Bernhard Bamert and Nils Wogram , with whom he was engaged as a guest soloist in the production Wagnerin of the Bavarian State Opera at the Munich Opera Festival in 2012 and with which two albums have been created so far (2018). Since 2009 he has been a permanent bass trombonist and tuba player of the Ed Partyka Jazz Orchestra. In 2010 he co-founded the Berlin Art Orchestra (with Stefan Schultze and Uli Kempendorff ); he is also a member of Malte Schiller's Red Balloon , the Till Brönner Orchestra and Jens Böckamps Flow Quartet . In 2014 he works with his Jan Schreiner Large Ensemble . He is also involved in recordings with Hannah Köpf , Reinhold Schmölzer and Tobias Wember / Subway Jazz Orchestra . Tom Lord recorded eight recording sessions between 2008 and 2014.
