Painted Schiller

Malte Schiller (* 1982 ) is a German jazz musician ( saxophone , clarinet , flute , composition , arrangement ).

Live and act

Malte Schiller grew up in Wilsum . After attending the Niedergrafschaft music school in Uelsen , he studied at the ArtEZ Conservatory Enschede from 2001 and saxophone with Martin Classen at the Bremen University of the Arts from 2002 to 2007 . In 2002 he won Bonuskäse with the band Bonuskäse at Jugend jazzt , was a member of the Landesjugendjazzorchester Niedersachsen and from 2003 onwards in the Bundesjazzorchester .

Schiller is a member of the Nordwest Bigband, for which he arranges and composes. In 2011 the band performed with Philip Catherine . In 2006 he released his debut album Connected ( Laika Records ). He released two albums with his large-format ensemble Red Balloon . He also worked with the Leipzig big band Spielvereinigung Sued . He worked as a producer for Peter Maffay and Kenneth Dahl Knudsen .

Prizes and awards

Schiller was a finalist in the ArtEZ Composition Contest in 2008 and a prize winner in the Jazz-Comp-Graz competition in 2011 . With his big band Red Balloon , he received the European Burghauser Junior Jazz Prize in 2012 . Also in 2012 he received a working grant for innovative music productions from the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture .
