coat of arms

The Wilsum coat of arms was officially presented in January 1998. It was developed by the Münster heraldist Ulf-Dietrich Korn .

“The coat of arms of the municipality of Wilsum is divided from red to green by a silver bar with a wavy top. Above is a silver ring with a pole-wise continuous spoke, accompanied by two silver spheres placed on each pole; below is a silver beehive. "

- Ulf-Dietrich Korn

The red of the upper field comes from the coat of arms of the Grafschaft Bentheim district . The single-spoke wheel is taken from the coat of arms of the Lords of Schoneveld (see watermill ). The four silver balls stand for the four former Rotts . The corrugated silver bar at the top stands for the ice age sand heaps (see Wilsumer Berge) as well as the five Wilsumer brooks. The green of the lower field stands for the landscape and agriculture that still characterize Wilsum today. The beehive should also indicate the barren heathland with beekeeping.
