Esche is a municipality in the Grafschaft Bentheim district in Lower Saxony .
geography
Geographical location
Esche is located on the Vechte between Nordhorn and Emlichheim . The community belongs to the joint community of Neuenhaus , which has its administrative seat in the city of Neuenhaus .
history
The farmers are first mentioned under their original name Aszi in a document from the year 1000. There you can also find information about the oldest settlement - Haus Esche , also called Oedinghof. Around 1411 the farmers came to the parish of Veldhausen .

Municipal council
The Escher municipal council consists of nine councilors who were last elected in the Lower Saxony municipal elections in 2016 . These have formed a joint electoral list.

The current mayor of Esches is Hermann Berends, who has been in office since 2001 and was re-elected in November 2016.

Esche is located on Landesstraße 44. Regional buses (line 20) of the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Grafschaft Bentheim (VGB) run every hour on weekdays as well as on Sundays and public holidays to Hoogstede and via Veldhausen to Neuenhaus , where connections to the RB 56 train line in Direction Nordhorn and Bad Bentheim as well as the regional bus route 30 in the direction of Nordhorn.
