The Verkehrsgemeinschaft Grafschaft Bentheim (VGB) is a transport association in the Grafschaft Bentheim district in Lower Saxony . The head office is in Nordhorn . More than 5 million passengers are carried every year.

The transport association was founded on February 26, 1996 with the partners Bentheimer Eisenbahn AG , Meyering-Reisen KG , Richters-Reisen GmbH and Nordhorner Vertriebsbetriebe GmbH (NVB) . The Meyering KG was expelled in 2013 from the VGB on the grounds that the company is not authorized in the district of Bentheim. In fact, the Meyering Verkehrsgesellschaft für die Grafschaft Bentheim mbH was founded to operate the concessions that were newly awarded at the time . The new company has not submitted an application for membership of the VGB. The bus network in the Nordhorn city traffic was initially operated by the NVB , but this gave up the bus operation and ceded the city network to the Bentheimer Eisenbahn on January 1, 2014 .

The route network includes bus routes in the form of regional bus , city bus , citizen bus , school bus and on- call bus routes as well as a call collective taxi line and covers the entire district. There are transitions with the lines in the Borken district , the Steinfurt district , the Emsland district and the Netherlands . The Lower Saxony ticket has been valid on VGB buses since December 9, 2018 . With the reactivation of local rail passenger transport between Bad Bentheim via Nordhorn and Neuenhaus , the line network and the tariff system were reorganized with an adjustment to the regional trains operating on line 56.

Tariff system

The tariff area includes all lines that are provided by the transport companies involved in the Grafschaft Bentheim district and the neighboring districts and states. The tariff area is divided into eleven individual zones, each of which usually includes one location. The fare is calculated based on the number of tariff zones traveled. There is a surcharge for call taxes.

Fietsenbus

A special feature in the tariff area is the “Fietsenbus”, a bus service that allows you to take up to 15 bicycles on a special bus trailer. The “Fietsenbus” generally runs from mid-March to mid-October on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays on the regional bus route 10 between Neuenhaus and Emlichheim and on route 161 every two hours from Nordhorn via Wietmarschen and Lohne to Lingen . During the Easter, summer and autumn holidays in Lower Saxony, the “Fietsenbus” runs daily on line 10.
