Ulf-Dietrich Korn

Ulf-Dietrich Johannes Gotthilf Korn (born October 8, 1936 in Magdeburg ; † May 14, 2019 in Münster ) was a German art historian , monument conservator and heraldist .

Life

He was born the son of the State Archives Councilor Otto Korn . He attended high schools in Leer / Ostfriesland, Düsseldorf and Münster. He then began an apprenticeship as a carpenter, which he broke off after a year. This was followed by studying architecture and art history at the TH Stuttgart and the universities of Hamburg, Rome and Münster. On January 3, 1964, he married his wife Ute Elisabeth Zeller, with whom he has two sons. In 1966 he was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate, 1966 to 1968 he was assistant at the art history institute of the TH Stuttgart, since 1968 at the Westphalian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, 1975 State Administrative Councilor and 1977 Chief Curator. He was involved in several cultural and historical associations.

Heraldic creation

Ulf-Dietrich Korn was the creator of numerous, mostly East Frisian, municipal coats of arms and numerous family coats of arms.

He was also a member of the Herold since October 15, 1959 .
