The Lower Saxony Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection is one of nine departments of the country Lower Saxony . It is based on Calenberger Strasse in the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover . The ministry has been headed by Barbara Otte-Kinast ( CDU ) since 2017 . Ludwig Theuvsen has been State Secretary since February 2020 after Rainer Beckedorf was put into temporary retirement .

tasks

In addition to food, agriculture and consumer protection , the ministry is also responsible for regional planning and spatial planning , forestry and hunting and animal welfare . For example, there is the Lower Saxony regional spatial planning program .

History and description

In the post-war period , in the early 1950s , the main building for what was then the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry was built in 1953, parallel to Leibnizufer , according to plans by the State Building Department . Here started the construction initially to Frankiphälen .
