Ludwig Theuvsen

Ludwig Theuvsen (born December 19, 1963 in Issum ) is a German agricultural economist and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from Friedrich-Spee-Gymnasium in Geldern in 1983, Theuvsen studied business administration at RWTH Aachen University . In 1989 he moved to the University of Cologne as a research assistant , where he received his doctorate in 1993 . In 1994 he was employed as an academic councilor and completed his habilitation in Cologne.

In 2001/02 Theuvsen received a visiting professorship for organization and personnel management at the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus . From 2002 to April 2018 he was a professor at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . Since May 2018 he has been head of department in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection . He has been State Secretary at this ministry since February 2020.

Theuvsen is married and Catholic.

politics

Theuvsen has been chairman of the CDU City Association of Göttingen since May 7, 2013 . At the end of 2014 he replaced Fritz Güntzler on the Göttingen city council.

In the local elections in Lower Saxony in 2016 , Theuvsen ran for the office of district administrator in the district of Göttingen , which was merged with the district of Osterode am Harz . He had to face a runoff election on September 25, 2016 and lost 43.48% to his opponent Bernhard Reuter . In the old district of Osterode , however, he was surprisingly able to unite the majority of the votes. Theuvsen was re-elected as a member of the Göttingen City Council.

In the state election in Lower Saxony in 2017 , Theuvsen ran for the CDU against the SPD constituency member Gabriele Andretta in the Göttingen-Stadt state electoral district . Theuvsen lost 38.9% to 25.5% of the first votes against Andretta.

On February 4, 2020 it was announced that Theuvsen would be appointed State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection .
