Charlotte Elisabeth Greve (born January 23, 1988 in Uelzen- Verßen) is a German jazz musician ( alto saxophone , flute and composition).

Live and act

Greve began to learn classical flute at the age of eight; saxophone lessons followed at the age of 16. She has received several awards from “ Jugend musiziert ” and “ Jugend jazzt ”. Since 2007 she has been studying jazz saxophone at the Jazz Institute Berlin . During extended stays in New York, she also took lessons from Loren Stillman , Andrew D'Angelo , Chris Cheek , Michel Gentile and David Binney . Since 2005 she has belonged to the Lower Saxony youth jazz orchestra Windmachine . She also played in a duo with vibraphonist Dierk Peters before founding the Lisbeth Quartet , which she led in Berlin, in 2009 with pianist Manuel Schmiedel and Marc Muellbauer on bass and Moritz Baumgärtner on drums. With the Lisbeth Quartet she made guest appearances at JazzBaltica (2010, 2014), the 12 Points Jazz Festival in Dublin, the International Jazz Week Burghausen , the Rheingau Music Festival and the JazzFest Berlin, and released three albums. She is also part of Stefan Schultze's Large Ensemble and worked with Lars Graugaard .

Prizes and awards

In August 2008 she received the Praetorius Music Prize with the duo that she formed with Dierk Peters and with whom she won one of the main prizes at the 2007 Jugend jazzt national competition . In 2010 Greve was awarded the JazzBaltica Prize. In 2012 her Lisbeth Quartet received an ECHO Jazz as the German “Newcomer of the Year”.
