Subway Jazz Orchestra (2018)

The Subway Jazz Orchestra is an 18-piece big band from Cologne, which has existed since 2013, consists of younger musicians and performs a completely new program every month, with the arrangements mostly being written by members of the band.

The big band, led by Janning Trumann , Jens Böckamp , Johannes Ludwig , Stefan Karl Schmid and Tobias Wember , always performs on the second Wednesday of the month in the Cologne subway and performs a different program each time. The orchestra has regular guests, including a. Roger Hanschel , Malte Schiller , David Grottschreiber , Peter Fulda , Monika Roscher , Steffen Schorn , Christian Elsässer , Hayden Chisholm , Anna Webber or Aydo Abay . Some band members compose and arrange for the orchestra, especially Jens Böckamp, Johannes Ludwig, Stefan Karl Schmid and Tobias Wember. The band can be heard on three albums so far (2018).

In 2016 the formation also presented itself at the Moers Festival . Together with the band Kasalla she performed in the Cologne Philharmonic .
