Kasalla ( Rhenish for anger, riot ) is a German band from Cologne . With her Kölschrock she is also active in the carnival .

Band history

The band was founded in mid-2011 by guitarist and songwriter Flo Peil and singer Bastian Campmann. Peil has been active in the Cologne music scene for years and has already written music and lyrics for numerous well-known Cologne bands such as Bläck Fööss , Paveier and the Cologne youth choir Sankt Stephan . In addition, the Düren- born front man was the pop group Peilomat . The first songs were written together with singer Bastian Campmann, son of Räuber guitarist Norbert Campmann, who died in 2007 .

Around four months after their first concert on September 5, 2011 at the MTC concert club in Cologne, their first CD was released in January 2012 with Et jitt Kasalla . The reviews were consistently positive, the album was praised as "the best of Cologne music that has been pressed onto a CD for years". The piece Pirate was one of the most played songs of the 2011/2012 carnival session, won the “Loss mer singe” tour, the “Top Jeck” competition on Radio Cologne and the Rote Funken vote for “Best Cologne Leed” .

In 2012 Kasalla played at the Kölner Lichtern , at the 40th anniversary of the Höhner band , at the women's DFB Cup final in the Rheinenergiestadion and as support for Silbermond at their Cologne concert in the Lanxess Arena . On November 9th, 2012 Kasalla was at the new edition of the anti-racism demo Ass huh, Zäng ussenander and played the song Fleisch un Bloot . On the same day, the band's second album, Immer en Bewäjung , was also released , which also received positive reviews: “When Et jitt Kasalla was released twelve months ago , many spoke of the best Cologne album in years. Now they have to revise their judgment. The band's second record is even better than the first. ”This was followed by a tour of Cologne in April 2013, and in May 2013 the band was a guest on the late-night show Inas Nacht in Hamburg .

On August 24, 2014, Kasalla's first open-air concert took place in the Tanzbrunnen in Cologne with over 12,000 spectators. The DVD was released on December 15, 2014. On February 6, 2015 published Kasalla their third studio album Us the city met K . Norbert Ramme from Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger wrote that it had turned out to be a really good Cologne rock album that caught the spirit of the times and the younger generation's attitude towards life. The song "Stadt met K" with its unusually hard guitar sound was released as a single despite initial reservations in the band and was a successful carnival hit. In the 2014/2015 session, the band with Alle Jläser Huh won the “Top Jeck” competition and “Loss mer singe”.

The band celebrated their 5th anniversary with two shows on September 9 and 10, 2016 in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne. Carolin Kebekus and Gentleman were among the guests . The performances were recorded for a live album. This double album, entitled Live in der Kölnarena , was released on December 2, 2016 and reached number 67 in the German album charts. On September 8, 2017, they released their fourth studio album entitled Mer sin eins , which contains more personal lyrics and an innovation that includes a Cologne rap . The album reached number five on the album charts. The band went on tour in autumn 2017, which also took them to Switzerland and Austria.

In April 2018 Kasalla was nominated for the Echo .
