The Paveier are a Cologne dialect and carnival band . Her best-known titles include Buenos Dias Mathias , Ich han de Musik bestellen and Leev Marie .
Career
The formation emerged in 1983 from the relatively unsuccessful country band Colonia Rangers and subsequently concentrated on pure Cologne music with a new name. Their main lyricist and composer was Hans Knipp , who helped them get their first two titles, Am Ruusemondach and Ich nemm d'r Dom met, to a first production at EMI Electrola . Soon after, they were produced by Gerig Music Publishers under the Papagayo label. The group then founded their own label, Pavement Records , which also includes other Cologne bands such as the Räuber , Brings and the Bläck Fööss .
Band name
The band name Paveier, in High German "Pflasterleger", is related to the French pavé - "street pavement". It supposedly goes back to a name from the Napoleonic era, in which many French terms found their way into the Cologne language. However, the word was used much earlier in Cologne and was a loan word widespread throughout the Dutch and West-Central German- speaking regions. The band name was picked by chance from a dictionary by Heidi Knipp, the wife of songwriter Hans Knipp, in 1983 and is pronounced IPA : [ də˘ pavˈa˘i˘jɵ ] , .
