The robbers , even De robbers , is a dialect - band with roots in the Cologne Carnival . Her repertoire consists largely of songs in the Cologne language, but some are also written in High German .

history

The group was founded in 1991 by Karl-Heinz Brand and Kurt Feller; guitarist Norbert Campmann joined them two years later. Wolfgang Bachem followed in 2001; 2007 Matthias Kalenberg and Gino Trovatello († 2020). In 2012 Kalenberg left the band; his successor was Torben Klein . The robbers perform mainly in Germany, they also gave concerts in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and Austria. They toured Namibia three times and performed in Pennsylvania at the German Folklore Festival. In September 2006 the group took part in the German-American Steuben Parade at the invitation of the “New Yorker Funken” . On May 25, 2007, Campmann died of heart failure after a pulmonary embolism .

The robbers worked on over 150 radio and television productions and released ten albums by 2016. They were three times with their singles Who tattooed the rose on my bum , I have something that you don't have and everything for the cat in the top 100 of the German single charts , eleven weeks with their ballad from Kölschen Bloot in “Cologne Charts ”, seven weeks of which at number one, and with the waltz Ding Auge they reached number 2 in the WDR4 listener hit parade. Her carnival hits Sulang die Botz still holds (2006) and What would be the men without women? (2007) won the BRF2 Belgian charts. They received the “Närrischen Oskar” three times from the Cologne EXPRESS and were awarded the “Kölschen Hätz” by ZDF for their services in the carnival. Gino Trovatello left the band after the 2014/2015 carnival session. In August 2015, Andreas Dorn alias "Schrader" and Jürgen "Geppie" Gebhard joined the group. The singer Torben Klein was replaced by Sven West at the end of 2018.
