Matthias Schwengler

Matthias Schwengler (born October 31, 1986 ) is a German jazz musician ( trumpet , flugelhorn , composition ).

Live and act

Schwengler studied jazz trumpet at the Cologne University of Music and Dance , the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Institute for Music at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences , before completing his master's degree at the Folkwang University of the Arts . From 2009 to 2011 he was a member of the Federal Jazz Orchestra , with which the album Originals was created under the direction of Marko Lackner .

Schwengler founded his own trio in 2015, which includes Reza Askari and Philipp Brämswig ; he also heads the Matthias Schwengler Sextet. He also belongs to the Subway Jazz Orchestra and the Bamesreiter Schwartz Orchestra and can be heard on their albums. He also worked in the WDR Big Band , the East West European Jazz Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Jazz Orchestra . He has also performed with musicians such as Tom Harrell , Jeff Hamilton , Don Menza , Jerry Bergonzi and Peter Herbolzheimer . He can also be heard regularly with salsa , funk , soul and pop bands. He was also involved in recordings of modern times ( Carmina Variations ), the Pascal Klewer Big Band and the Benedikt Koch Quintet.
