The BamesreiterSchwartzOrchestra is a 23-piece big band , which was founded in autumn 2013 in Munich by the band leaders and composers Lukas Bamesreiter and Richard Friedrich Schwartz. Musically, it draws the bow "of classic Powerswing about Cool - and avant-garde sounds and rock jazz to hip hop -Einflüssen". In addition to the four-part vocal section, the special features of the line-up include the expansion of the five-part saxophone setting by an additional clarinet and the addition of a French horn to the brass section .

history

The orchestra was initially created in autumn 2013 for the two founders' exam concerts; In some cases, the former line-up of the Bavarian Youth Jazz Orchestra was used. After its establishment, it mainly played concerts in Munich and other parts of Bavaria for the first two years. The repertoire created for the orchestra can be understood as program music. On November 17 and 18, 2015, the recordings for the debut album Metamorphosis took place in the Kyberg Studio under the technical direction of Florian H. Oestreicher and Jason Seizer . The album was released on February 24, 2017 on the OKeh Records label . In May 2017 the orchestra presented itself on a release tour in Germany.

Prizes and awards

In 2018 the formation was nominated for the Echo Jazz in the categories "Newcomer" and "Large Ensemble"; she received the award as "Newcomer of the Year". The directors of the orchestra, Lukas Bamesreiter and Richard Friedrich Schwartz, criticized the cancellation of the award gala by the Federal Association of the Music Industry and its form, together with other award winners, as being detrimental to the public image.
