The type FS 11000 (sometimes also referred to as FS 10500) is a type of cargo ship from the Ferus Smit shipyard in Westerbroek. Five units of this type were built for the Dutch Flinter Groep .

history

The ships of the type were built between 2009 and 2011 at the Ferus Smit shipyard for one-ship companies belonging to the Flinter Groep. They were referred to here as Type A and operated under the Dutch flag .

As a result of the bankruptcy of the Flinter Groep in autumn 2016, the ships were sold or auctioned. Three ships came to the Management Facilities Group in Farmsum , two to Thorco Shipping in Hellerup . All five ships were sold again a little later. One ship went to the Dutch company Vertom, four more to the Irish shipping company Arklow Shipping. The ships there form the D-class and sail under the flag of Ireland.

description

The ships are powered by an eight - cylinder four - stroke diesel engine with an output of 4000  kW . The Caterpillar engine (type: Mak 8M32) acts on a controllable pitch propeller . The ships reach a speed of around 14  knots . They are equipped with a bow thruster with an output of 573 kW.

A Stamford generator driven by the main engine with an output of 680 kW (850 kVA apparent output ) and two generators each driven by a Mitsubishi diesel engine (type: S6B3-MPTA) with an output of 310 kW (388 kVA apparent output) and an emergency generator are used to generate electricity  with 105 kW power (131 kVA apparent power) are available.

The deckhouse is located in the stern area of the ships. It has four decks with facilities for the ship's crew and the bridge . There are eleven individual cabins on board for the crew. Another cabin is also available as a reserve. A free-fall lifeboat is installed behind the deckhouse . The engine room is located in the hull below the deckhouse.

There are two box-shaped holds in front of the deckhouse . Cargo hold 1 is 32.4 meters long, 13.2 meters wide and 10.65 meters high. It tapers in the front area over a length of 10.4 meters to 6.2 meters wide. Cargo hold 2 is 63.5 meters long, 13.2 meters wide and 10.65 meters high. Load space 1 is closed with five, load space 2 with ten pontoon hatch covers. The hatch covers can be moved using a hatch cart. To subdivide the cargo holds, bulkheads consisting of two 5.25 meter wide panels are available, which can be set up in two positions in cargo hold 1 or in four positions in cargo hold 2. The panels can also be used as an intermediate deck. You then divide the hold into a 5.35 meter high lower and a 4.5 meter upper room. The volume of the two rooms together is 13008 m³. The tank ceiling can be loaded with 15 t / m², the intermediate deck with 3.5 t / m² and the hatch cover with 1.75 t / m².

The ships are suitable for the transport of containers . The container capacity is 365  TEU . 189 TEU can be loaded in the holds, 176 TEU on deck.

The hulls of the ships are reinforced with ice ( ice class 1A).
