The Cruls Islands ( French Îles Cruls ) are a group of small islands in the southern Wilhelm Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . They are 1.5 km west of the Roca Islands .
The islands were discovered during the Belgica expedition (1897–1899) led by the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery . He named it after the Brazilian astronomer Luís Cruls (1848–1908) , who came from Belgium .
