The Roca Islands ( French Îles Roca ) are a group of small islands in the Wilhelm Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . They are located between the Cruls Islands and the Anagram Islands .
The islands were discovered during the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903-1905) under Jean-Baptiste Charcot . Charcot named it after the then Argentine President Julio Argentino Roca (1843-1914). Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) under John Rymill incorrectly identified the group of islands known today as the Anagram Islands as the Roca Islands. This error was corrected by the work of the Royal Navy's hydrographic surveying unit in 1958.
