Lucerne Jazz Orchestra

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lucerne Jazz Orchestra is a big band that was founded in 2007 in Lucerne by David Grottschreiber , Matthias Tschopp and Jan Schreiner . The ensemble , which is predominantly made up of soloists, has achieved a top position among big bands in Europe “with its curiosity and joy in experimentation” in just a few years.

history

Under the direction of David Grottschreiber, the orchestra quickly managed to develop a name and, above all, its very own sound. Through the continuous work with more than ten concerts a year at home and abroad, the orchestra developed into a dynamic unit; the compositions and arrangements of Grottschreiber and other band members have helped characterize the sound of the ensemble. The Lucerne Jazz Orchestra also crossed stylistic and typical branch boundaries by regularly inviting renowned jazz composers and soloists. This resulted, for example, in the production of “Five Movements to Hear and See” for jazz orchestra, dance and electronics by Oliver Leicht or “Berge versetzen”, a program by and with clarinetist Claudio Puntin based on poems by Sabina Naef . Furthermore, were Dave Douglas , Nils Wogram , Hayden Chisholm , Ed Partyka , Ohad Talmor , Niels Klein , Henning Sieverts , Gerd Hermann Ortler , Stefan Schultze , Chris Wiesendanger and Hans Feige winter guest. The band also worked with singers like Lucia Cadotsch .

The Friends' Association was founded in October 2007 to offer the opportunity to support the Lucerne Jazz Orchestra . The city and canton of Lucerne honored the work of the Lucerne Jazz Orchestra 2010 with a contribution.
