The Lumberjack Big Band from Göppingen was founded in 1989 by the band's drummer at the time, Eckhard Stromer , and has been led by Alexander Eissele since 1992. A pool of around 50 musicians, mostly amateurs, most of whom come from the Göppingen district, can be used for the cast.
history
The formation occurs at around 25 concerts per year, mainly in the Göppingen and Stuttgart area; Among other things, it has opened the Göppingen city festival on the market square every year since 1996. There were u. a. but also concerts in the Unterfahrt in Munich , in the Kurhaus Baden-Baden and in the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden for the opening of the Whitsun Festival, in the Jazzhaus Freiburg , in Zug (Switzerland), Lichtensteig (Switzerland), at the Idstein Jazz Festival and in Lüneburg . In 2010 the orchestra played together with Helge Schneider (and guest drummer Willy Ketzer ) at the beginning of RUHR.2010 - European Capital of Culture in the ZDF show “Glück Auf Ruhr 2010!” The title “There is rice”.
The band has continued with guests such as Anne Czichowsky , Andy Haderer , Axel Prasuhn , Bibi Johns , Bill Ramsey , Bob Mintzer , Gitte Haenning , Greetje Kauffeld , Helen Schneider , Ingrid Peters , Joe Gallardo , John Riley , Johnny Logan , Joy Fleming , Klaus Graf , Max Mutzke , Roman Lob , Melva Houston , Michael Schanze , the New York Voices , Paul Kuhn , Peter Herbolzheimer , Randy Brecker , Roberto Blanco , Sophie van der Stap , Tom Gaebel , Wencke Myhre and Alexander Klaws .
Awards
The band won the national youth jazz competition several times (1996, 1999, 2002 and 2005) . In 2002 she received the special prize of the Jeunesses Musicales competition under the motto children's concert. In 2004 she was awarded second place for her “outstanding performance” at the 6th German Orchestra Competition in Osnabrück. In 2006 the band received an award at the ŠKODA jazz competition in Bühl (1st prize “participated with outstanding success”).
