Susanne Abbuehl

Susanne Abbuehl (born July 30, 1970 in Bern , Canton Bern ) is a Swiss - Dutch jazz singer and composer.

Live and act

Abbuehl received his harpsichord training in baroque music as a child . When she was 17, she went to Los Angeles and attended high school where she received music lessons every day. She then studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (with Jeanne Lee, among others ) and graduated cum laude with a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance and Music Education . She spent several months in India studying classical Indian singing with Prabha Atre . She studied composition with Diderik Wagenaar in The Hague.

As a singer, she tours around the world with her ensembles. In her work, influences from European art music can be seen; their approach to instrumentation and interaction could be described as chamber music . Their artistic identity is characterized by being reduced to essential instrumentation and design means. She initially taught jazz singing at the Basel School of Music, currently in Lausanne and as a professor at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences .
