Colin Vallon (born November 17, 1980 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss jazz pianist .

Live and act

Vallon completed a classical music education; at the age of 18 he studied at the Swiss Jazz School with Silvano Bazan , William Evans, Manuel Bärtsch and Bert Joris . In 1999 he founded the Colin Vallon Trio , whose debut album Les Ombres was released in 2004, followed by the album Ailleurs on HatHut Records in 2007 . Another formation was Colin Vallon cinq with trumpeter Erik Truffaz . Since 2009 he has been teaching at the Bern University of the Arts . Vallon also worked on recordings by Adrian Mears , Nils Wogram , Dejan Terzic , John Schröder , Lisette Spinnler , Araxi Karnusian , Tyshawn Sorey , Andy Scherrer , Tom Harrell , Elina Duni , Nicolas Masson , Samuel Rohrer and Kenny Wheeler . While his trio's early albums were released on Hatology, all of their albums have been released on ECM since 2011 , including Rruga , le Vent and Danse . On March 16, 2017, the Deutschlandfunk series JazzFacts brought a one-hour portrait of a musician about Colin Vallon.
