Jörg Brinkmann

Jörg Brinkmann (* 1976 in Kempen ) is a German cellist and composer who has made a name for himself in the field of jazz .

Brinkmann studied jazz music at the Arnhem University of the Arts with Michael Gustorff . For many years he has been working intensively in smaller bands with chamber music . With his trio (with Oliver Maas and Dirk-Peter Kölsch ) he released the album Ha! at Act . In 2006 he toured Canada with the Amsterdam-based jazz string quartet Zapp . With Claudio Puntin and Johannes Fink he formed the trio Dolce Vita , which dealt with the musical world of Nino Rota on the 2010 album Amarcord . He also played with Herb Robertson , Frank Gratkowski , Michael Schiefel ( Platypus Trio ), Mark Alban Lotz and Michael Vatcher . He appears in Michiel Braam's jazz opera and is a member of Eric Vloeimans ' Oliver's Cinema , Markus Stockhausen's Quadrivium (album of the same name in 2016, Far Into the Stars 2017) and the quintet by Franz von Chossy . Brinkmann has also performed in Europe, Africa and Russia. He can also be heard on albums by Jeroen van Vliet (who is now part of his trio), Martin Fondse & Starvinsky Orkestar, Steffen Schorn , Hermine Deurloo and Alex Simu . In a trio with brothers Julian and Roman Wasserfuhr , he released the album Relaxin 'in Ireland on ACT in 2018 .

He also worked as a stage musician for various productions at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and is employed as a music teacher at the Bergische Musikschule and as a lecturer at the University of Witten-Herdecke .

In 2007 he won the jazzwerkruhr competition with his trio .
