Sven Decker

Sven Decker (* 1979 in Merzig ) is a German jazz musician ( tenor and soprano saxophone , clarinet , bass clarinet , composition).

Live and act

As a student, Decker was a member of the LandesSchülerBigband and the LandesJugendJazzOrchester des Saarlandes. From 2000 to 2005 he studied jazz saxophone at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen with Hugo Read and Wollie Kaiser . He was also a member of Christof Thewes ' avant-garde big band Little Bigband and Gunter Hampel's New Next Generation (2002-2004). By Katrin Scherer , he founded from 2003 Jazzthetik vaunted trio Without 4 played three (with Bernd Oezsevim ), 2005, the little big band UFO unidentified flying orchestra with musicians from the Ruhr. In the same year his own quartet Feinkost Decker was formed . He also belongs to Jan Klares The Dorf , André Nendzas A. Tronic and Katrin Scherer's The Bliss . Together with Scherer, he composed in 2010 for a joint program with the Grubenklangorchester reloaded.

Prizes and awards

With blank horror , he received the second prize in the 2001 university competition in Rostock. He received the jazzwerkruhr sponsorship award with both Ohne 4 played 3 (2005) and UFO (2008). In 2013 he came with no 4 played three to second place in the final of the New German Jazz Prize .
