Wollie Kaiser (born August 9, 1950 in Königswinter ) is a German woodwind player (piccolo, alto and bass flute, soprano, tenor and bass saxophone, bass clarinet, double bass clarinet) of modern creative jazz and a band leader.

Live and act

Wollie Kaiser first became known as a trio with Fritz Wittek and Dieter Manderscheid . In 1981 he initiated the Cologne Saxophone Mafia , in which he is still active today. Since 1986 he has played in a duo with Georg Ruby ; the joint record Ruby Domesticus Vulgaris was recognized in the Cadence Poll in 1987 as the best foreign production of the year. Under the name Wollie Kaiser Timeghost , Kaiser has been realizing various projects with changing line- ups since 1993, in which, among other things, he deals with the songs and sounds of rock music .

He appears as a duo with Ulla Oster . He also worked with Klaus König , Peter Herborn , Manfred Bründl , Gabriele Hasler , Ekkehard Jost , Underkarl , the Franck Band , Gary Thomas , Mark Feldman , Jürgen Wuchner , Janusz Stefański , Harry Beckett , Christof Thewes and the Liquid Penguin Ensemble . He is also a member of the bass saxophone quartet Deep Schrott, founded in 2008, with Andreas Kaling , Jan Klare and Dirk Raulf .

Kaiser has been a lecturer at the Folkwang School in Essen since 1989 ; he also teaches at the Saar University of Music . He lives in Saarbrücken .

He has currently worked on 60 records and CDs.
