Andreas Kaling (* 1960 in Münster ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( bass saxophone , also tenor and soprano saxophone ).

Live and act

Kaling first played in rock bands in Munster before he got involved with improvised music. After soprano, alto and tenor, he has also been playing the bass saxophone since 2000, which has gradually developed into his main instrument. From 1986 to 1998 he was a member of the trio Old Passions (with Karl Godejohann and Uwe Niepel ); he also worked with Ray Anderson , between 1997 and 2008 in the Duo Synthesis with percussionist Klaus Latza and from 1998 to 2003 in the saxophone quartet Sax Caro . Since 1995 he has been playing with the saxophonist Andreas Gummersbach in the wind duo leptophonics , with whom he created four albums. From 2007 he worked in the Inventory of the Night project (with Erhard Hirt , Rainer Bärensprung and the dancer Dirk Kazmierczak). In 2008 he founded the bass saxophone quartet Deep Schrott , together with Dirk Raulf , Wollie Kaiser and Jan Klare . Since 2011 he has also performed as a soloist with the bass saxophone. In the field of jazz he was involved in 28 recording sessions between 1979 and 2011.

Andreas Kaling lives and works in Bielefeld .
