Filippa Gojo (born September 4, 1988 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian jazz singer .

Live and act

Gojo received lessons at the Bregenz Music School from 1992, initially in the form of early musical education and a children's choir. From 1995 she received piano lessons and from 1998 also singing lessons. There was also training at the Dornbirn jazz seminar. Since 2003 she has performed with bands in the Lake Constance area. In 2007 she began studying at the Cologne University of Music with Anette von Eichel and Susanne Schneider, spending a semester abroad at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2010/2011 . From 2012 to 2014 she completed a master’s degree in Cologne with Roger Hanschel . There were also workshops with Sidsel Endresen , Jay Clayton , Norma Winstone and Brad Mehldau .

In 2008 and 2009 she was a singer in the JugendJazzOrchester NRW , with whom she also toured in China. In 2009 she founded the Filippa Gojo Quartet , with which she played numerous concerts and performed at Bingen , the Göttingen Jazz Festival , the Kempten Jazz Spring and Jazz und Mee (h) r . In 2011 she traveled to Southeast Asia with the group The Willit Blend . In 2013 she performed with Bodek Janke and Global Dance Kulture XL with the WDR Big Band Cologne . Since the same year she has also given solo concerts. In 2015 she and Tamara Lukasheva also formed the Gender Balance Band with Reza Askari and Dierk Peters . She can also be heard on albums by Hannah Köpf , Caroline Thon , Anette Maiburg , Maxime Bender , Christine Corvisier , Matthias Schriefl and Georg Breinschmid ( Breinländ ).

2012–2014 she directed the vocal ensemble at the Cologne University of Music.

Filippa Gojo has been a lecturer in jazz and pop singing at the University of Music in Freiburg since 2016.

Prizes and awards

As a student, Gojo won the national Prima la musica competition . In 2014 she received the Horst and Gretl Will grant from the city of Cologne for jazz and improvised music . In 2015 she and her quartet won first place at the New German Jazz Prize and also the Soloist Prize.
