Maxime Bender (* 1982 in Ettelbrück ) is a Luxembourgish modern jazz musician ( tenor , soprano , alto saxophone , flute , brasswalker , composition ).

Bender first studied at the Luxembourg Conservatory; He continued his studies at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg and the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles with Erwin Vann and Steve Houben , in order to study jazz saxophone and composition at the Musikhochschule Köln with Wolfgang Engstfeld and Frank Reinshagen from 2006 . He led his own quartet , with which he released three albums by 2014, and also a big band . He also worked with Dee Dee Bridgewater , George Duke , Lalo Schifrin , David Binney , Pascal Schumacher , Erwin Vann, Jeff Herr, Andy Haderer , Heiner Wiberny , Pablo Held , Jonas Burgwinkel and Philipp van Endert .

Prizes and awards

In 2007 Bender won the Luxembourg Elie Music Award ; in the same year was nominated for the European jazz prize Eurodjango as "New Talent". In 2008 he won the composition prize at the Tremplin Jazz jazz festival in Avignon.
