Silvio Morger (* 7. November 1984 in Basel ) is a Swiss jazz - drummer .

Live and act

Morger, who grew up in Germany since 1994, started playing drums as a teenager. After graduating from high school, he studied jazz drums at the Mainz University of Music with Keith Copeland , then at the Cologne University of Music with u. a. Michael Küttner . During his studies he belonged to the State Youth Jazz Orchestra of Hesse, the Federal Jazz Orchestra and Peter Herbolzheimer's Masterclass Bigband. From 2009 to 2010 he stayed in New York, where he continued his education at Queens College with Gene Jackson , Johannes Weidenmüller , Jochen Rückert , Ari Hoenig and Henry Cole . He was a member of the group of the singer Hannah Köpf , the Matthias Schriefl Trio and the bands of Nicolas Simion , Maxime Bender , Anne-Christine Heinrich , Lucas Leidinger and Volker Engelberth . Morger toured internationally and played with Dee Dee Bridgewater , David Binney , Will Vinson, Antonio Hart , Ack van Rooyen , Paul Heller , Hubert Nuss , Martin Sasse , Julian & Roman Wasserfuhr , the hr-Bigband and the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra.

Prizes and awards

Morger received first prize at the 2004 Jugend jazzt competition . In 2007 he won the New Generation competition in Straubing with the Hornstorm quartet . In 2012 he received the Soloist Prize at the Tremplin Jazz d´Avignon Festival . He received the Wilhelm Fabry Prize of the City of Hilden in 2013. With Rebecca Trescher's Ensemble 11 he received the Bavarian Art Prize in 2017 in the music and dance category .
