Matthias Knoop (born November 22, 1974 in Nuremberg ) is a German jazz musician ( trumpet , flugelhorn ).

Act

Between 1995 and 2000, Knoop studied jazz trumpet at the Nuremberg University of Music with Axel beinke in order to graduate as a qualified music teacher. This was followed by artistic studies at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Andy Haderer until graduation in 2003 . He also received lessons from Bobby Shew , Steve Waterman and Rüdiger Baldauf . During his studies he was a member of the LandesJugendJazzOrchester Bayern under Harald Rüschenbaum (1996–2001) and in the Bundesjazzorchester under Peter Herbolzheimer (1998–2002).

In 2002 he founded his Matthias Knoop sextet . With the formation Oktoposse , formed in 2003 , he released three albums and in 2005 won prizes at the Jazz an der Donau Festival and the Granada Jazz Competition. He is also a member of the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra , with which he has released several CD productions. Since 2006 he was a permanent member of the Soul lineup The Come with man! S . In 2009 he founded the jazz quintet Flobomat5 and (together with his wife, trumpeter Suanne Knoop) the jazz-classical crossover ensemble Paarungszeit . He also worked and toured with the WDR Big Band , Marla Glen , the Sunday Night Orchestra , Willy Ketzer , Al Porcino , Markus Stockhausen , Ack van Rooyen , the Helios Ensemble, Pepe Lienhard , Paul Kuhn and Trovači . He can also be heard on albums by Frederik Köster , David Plate, Adrienne Haan , Caroline Thon and Maxime Bender . He was also involved in television and radio productions for numerous broadcasters.
