Theophil Bienert
Theophil Joachim Heinrich Bienert ( Russian Теофил Йоахим Генрих Бинерт ; April 21 . Jul / 3. May 1833 greg. In Kandau , † March 24 jul. / 5. April 1873 greg. In Riga ) was a German - Russian botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is "Bien."
Life
Origin and family
Theophilus was a son of Courland pharmacist assistants Eberhard Gottfried Bienert and Wilhelmine Charlotte, nee Schmidt. He married Emilie Brehm from Riga in 1862.
Career
Bienert attended the Gouvernements-Gymnasium in Mitau in 1848 and then completed an apprenticeship as a pharmacist. In 1854 he worked as a pharmacist's assistant. Since 1857 he studied pharmacy and won a gold medal. In 1858 he was provisional and assistant to the director of the Botanical Garden in Dorpat , Alexander von Bunge . In 1858 and 1859, Bienert took part in an expedition of the Russian Geographical Society led by Nikolai Vladimirovich Chanykow to Khorasan . From 1862 to 1868 he was the owner of a pharmacy in Dorpat. After completing his master's degree in botany in 1872, he was a lecturer in botany at the Riga Polytechnic from 1872 to 1873 .
