Nikolai Wladimirowitsch Chanykow ( Russian: Николай Владимирович Ханыков ; born October 24, 1819 in Kaluga Governorate ; † December 15, 1878 in Rambouillet near Paris ) was a Russian explorer .

Khanykov was educated at the Tsarskoye Selo City Lyceum . He took the train 1839/40 Perowskijs against Khiva part and traveled 1841-42 to Bukhara . Later he was employed by the Russian consulate in Persia . From 1858 to 1860 he carried out a successful expedition to Khorasan , which led from Tehran via Mashhad and Herat to Lasch on the swamp of Hamun and Hamoun . He returned to Tehran via the Lut , Kerman and Yazd desert .

Nikolai Vladimirovich Chanykow died on December 15, 1878 in Rambouillet.
