Oliver Lutz

Oliver Lutz (* 1986 in Hanau ) is a German jazz bassist who is active in the Cologne music scene.

Live and act

Lutz studied electric bass and double bass at the Mannheim University of Music ; In 2009 he continued his studies at the Cologne University of Music and Dance , which he graduated in 2011 with “summa cum laude”. He played u. a. during this time with the European Masterclass Big Band under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer . In 2009 he won the Jugend Jazzt competition , in 2011 the Convento Jazz Award and the sponsorship award at the Generations Jazzfestival, Frauenfeld .

Lutz had engagements at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Ettlinger Schlossfestspiele ; He also appeared at many international jazz festivals such as the Enjoy Jazz Festival, the Leverkusener Jazztage , Jazz à Vienne and the Montreux Jazz Festival . In 2013 he released his debut album Signal ( Unit Records ), followed by his second CD Poolparty (KLAENGrecords) in 2016 . He has been working in the Cologne jazz scene since the late 2000s, both with his quartet and quintet (initially with Christoph Möckel , Moritz Baumgärtner , Manuel Schmiedel , Pablo Held , Jonas Burgwinkel , Sebastian Sternal , Simon Seidl , Vitaliy Zolotov ), also as a player in formations such as the Offshore Quintet , Janning Trumanns Makkro (album Raeume 2014) or the Lucas Leidinger Quintet.

His current projects are Salomea (with Rebekka Ziegler ) and Synthimania .
