Alex Mineiro , real name Alexander Pereira Cardoso (born March 15, 1975 in Belo Horizonte , Minas Gerais ), is a former Brazilian soccer player.
Career
The 1.75-meter-tall striker began his career in 1996 with América Mineiro . After a year he moved to Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte , where he was under contract for 1997. During the season he completed 14 league games and scored four goals. In 1998 Alex Mineiro completed 19 league games for EC Vitória and scored twice during the year. The next year he was in the squad of EC Bahia and from 1999 to 2000 at União Agrícola Barbarense FC . He took part in five goalless cup games in 2000 for Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte. A year later he signed a two-year contract with Athletico Paranaense , in which he played a total of 41 league games over the two seasons and scored 20 goals.
In the 2002/03 season he moved to the Mexican club UANL Tigres , where he was used in 18 games, he was able to score once. Alex Mineiro played 19 league games in 2003 for Athletico Paranaense and scored six goals. Between 2004 and 2006 he was loaned to two clubs. He signed his first loan deal with Atlético Mineiro , where he played 43 league games and scored 15 goals. After the season he moved to the Japanese club Kashima Antlers , where he was in the squad for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. In his first year he played 27 league games and scored 15 goals. In 2006 he was on the field 31 times and scored ten goals. During the two years he also played three games in the Kaiser Cup and twelve games in the J. League Cup .
Then Alex Mineiro returned to Athletico Paranaense, after his return he played 28 league games and scored nine goals. After five years in Paranaense he signed a new contract with Palmeiras São Paulo , but he was only under contract there for one season. In 2008, he made 32 league games and scored 19 goals. His next stop in 2009 was the club Gremio Porto Alegre , where he played seven league games and scored twice. A year later he returned to Athletico Paranaense for the last time, in the seasons 2009 and 2010 he was used again in 24 games and scored three goals. Thereupon Alex Mineiro ended his active career.
