Bernd Oezsevim

Bernd Oezsevim (* 1980 in Merzig ) is a German jazz musician ( drums ).

Live and act

Oezsevim has been playing the drums since he was nine years old. After starting out in orchestras and big bands , he began playing in smaller ensembles as a teenager. He lived in the Ruhr area between 2002 and 2008, where he studied jazz at the Folkwang University .

Since 2002 he has toured worldwide with Gunter Hampel , which is documented on numerous audio and video carriers. With the pianist Oliver Maas and the bassist Markus Braun he formed the trio Invisible Change , with Katrin Scherer and Sven Decker the band Without 4 played three . In recent years he has also played with musicians such as Perry Robinson , Rupert Stamm , Matthias Schubert , Steve Swell , Daniel Carter , Sabir Mateen , Florian Weber , Randy Brecker , Uri Caine , Nguyên Lê , Angelika Niescier , Silke Eberhard , Dan Weiss and Rudresh Mahanthappa . He was also part of various theater and dance productions at home and abroad. He has lived in Berlin since 2010 and is part of the local jazz scene.

Prizes and awards

At the age of 14, Oezsevim won first prize in Jugend musiziert ; in the competition Best European Youth Drummer 1996 in Lahnstein at the Super Drumming Festival he reached the third place. In 2000 he was a federal prize winner at Jugend jazzt in Erfurt. He won the JazzWerkRuhr Prize a total of four times, with the bands Invisible Change , Without 4 played three , Matovs Garage and the Zodiak Trio . With the Zodiak Trio , he achieved second place at the New German Jazz Prize in 2011 and in 2013 with "Without 4 played three".
