Giacomo Lumbroso

Giacomo Lumbroso (born October 9, 1844 , † April 2, 1925 in Santa Margherita Ligure ) was an Italian Egyptologist and papyrologist. He was one of the founders of modern papyrology .

Life

In addition to his teaching activities in Palermo and at the universities of Pisa and Rome , he dealt with papyrological studies throughout his life and emerged through numerous publications. Until his death, he wrote articles for various magazines on antiquity, including the Archive for Papyrus Research , the Bulletin de la Société Archéologique d'Alexandrie and Aegyptus .

The Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in Rome, he belonged since 1878 as a corresponding, in 1891 as a full member. In 1874 he was accepted as a corresponding member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences .
