Giacomo Monzino

Giacomo Antonio Monzino (* 1772 in Milan ; † 1854 ) was an Italian guitarist , composer and instrument maker .

Monzino came from the second generation of a Milanese family of musicians. His father Antonio founded the Monzino instrument making workshop in Milan around 1750. Mainly guitars and guitar harps were manufactured here. The company still produces instruments and music to this day.

Giacomo Monzino originally learned the violin and later guitar. But he mainly wrote works for the guitar. The first 10 opus numbers of his works were published by the family-owned publishing house. Opus number 11, a sonata for solo guitar, was published by Ricordi in Milan around 1809.
