Giancarlo Nanni

Giancarlo Nanni (born May 27, 1941 in Rhodes , † January 5, 2010 in Rome ) was an Italian director .

Life

Nanni began his artistic career as a painter and turned to theater work in the late 1960s. With his artistic and private partner Manuela Kustermann he founded the "Teatro La Fede", which dedicated itself to avant-garde productions and plays. Nanni's numerous directorial works brought works such as Spring Awakening , John Webster's The White Devil or Lewis Carroll with actresses such as Memè Perlini , Valentino Orfeo , Pippo di Marca and of course Kustermann on stage. From February 1990 he continued work at the "Teatro Il Vascello" in Rome. He had a reputation for being open to new artists and forms of representation in spite of increasingly tight financial resources.

In 1995 Nanni directed a rarely shown film, Antemprima al terzo braccio .
