Giardino Inglese

The Giardino Inglese (English Garden) is a park in Palermo . It is on Via Libertà .

The park was laid out in 1851 by Giovanni Battista Filippo Basile in the style of an English landscape garden with hills and lakes and other landscape elements. Among the plants in the park, a few specimens of the Ficus magnolioides stand out.

There are also some sculptures in the park, including the marble group of the Canaris brothers, created by Benedetto Civiletti in 1878 , freedom fighters in the Greek War of Independence, and a monument by Giuseppe Garibaldi created by Vincenzo Ragusa in 1892 . At the foot of the monument there is a bronze lion tearing a chain into pieces by Mario Rutelli . There are also busts of Luigi Pirandello , Edmondo De Amicis , Cesare Battisti and others
