The Gibbs Bluff is a rock cliff in the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . On the Mawson Escarpment , it looms between the Arriens Glacier and the England Glacier .
Aerial photographs of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions from 1956, 1960 and 1973 were used for mapping. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the Australian meteorologist William James Gibbs (1918-2005), head of the Bureau of Meteorology from 1962 to 1978 and president of the World Meteorological Organization from 1967 to 1975.
