The Gibney Reef is a reef in the archipelago of the Windmill Islands off the Budd Coast of the East Antarctic Wilke country . It is 800 m west of the Clark Peninsula .
The crew of the icebreaker USS Glacier mapped it in February 1957. Lieutenant Robert Carl Newcomb (1926-2008), navigator of the ship, named it after the sailor Joseph Gibney, who was involved in this mapping.
