Giessen Bridge (Krumbach)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gießenbrücke is a wooden bridge with multiple suspension frames over the Bolgenach between the Vorarlberg communities of Krumbach and Riefensberg .

Giessen Bridge

It spans the Bolgenach before its confluence with the Weißach and was once an important connection not only between the communities of Krumbach and Riefensberg, but also between the Bregenzerwald and Oberstaufen. In May 1945, French troops crossed the decrepit structure. The year of construction of the covered wooden bridge is 1792 (the year can be seen in the roof beams from Riefensberg's side). According to Section 2a of the Monument Protection Act, it is under monument protection ( list entry ) and is one of the most important structures in Krumbach. The Gießenbrücke can be found in Krumbach-Zwing in the direction of Doren . Shortly before the Brunsttobel bridge , a signposted road leads downhill to the bridge on the right.
