Giel (noble family)
The Giel were a medieval ministerial family from the Princely Land in Switzerland .
Your master castles were the Gielsberg castle (destroyed in 1600) at Wolfertswil and the castle Glattburg 731688 / 254564 ( 47.4287 ° N , 9.18416 ° O ) above Niederglatt in today's municipal area Upper Bueren .
Until 1486 the Giel von Glattburg ruled over the bailiwicks of Flawil , Oberwil, Gebertschwil , Aufhofen and Harschwil (the latter three are today's hamlets of Oberbüren).
