Gig (appearance)
A gig (from English engagement ) in the jargon of musicians describes the commitment to individual appearances , especially those outside of long-term commitments.
The term Mucke and later Mugge had been common in German-speaking countries since the 19th century . It is still there today in the field of classical music . On the other hand, with the rise of popular music in the areas of jazz , rock and pop music, the internationally known term gig, borrowed from English , spread in the German-speaking area .
